The brand new Manukau Bus station is the key entry point for intercity bus travellers arriving in Auckland. The station is also a busy hub for buses travelling to and from the airport and local routes. It is also next to a major railway station and the pair form an important transport platform.
Creating storage that met the demands of multiple personas in an aesthetic fashion was a critical requirement from AT.
Elocker had an alcove space to work in that didn’t quite fit the dimensions of our lockers. We also wanted to create the appearance of the lockers being embedded as if they were part of the wall. Given the unique design of the station, we worked closely with AT and the architects from Beca to create a stunning looking facility.
The floor also had a 55m slope from one side to the other. It made for some difficult challenges but using skilled install staff and tweaking the locker foot design, we negated any issues.
AT Metro through Elocker, now offers their travellers a safe, secure facility to leave luggage on an hourly, daily or weekly basis. Bus passengers can access the lockers 24/7 with multiple entries – which is particularly important for local users.
